The Origin

El Paso roots.
Global reach.

I grew up in El Paso, Texas. A border city built on movement, trade, and people who figure things out. It's where I learned that tight operations and strong relationships are the foundation of everything.

My career took me to Boston and beyond, building global teams, driving transformation programs, and leading organizations at scale inside one of the world's most complex life sciences companies. As Director of Strategy and Operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific, I lead a large North American organization spanning operations, commercial, and technical teams.

"Every operation I built abroad, I kept thinking — El Paso deserves this kind of thinking. The logistics running through this city every day should be smarter, leaner, and better for the people doing the work."

— Jorge Escobedo-Nieto, Founder

So I built Soltola. Not just a pallet company, but a platform to bring that same operational mindset to the Southwest supply chain. One that pays carriers for miles they're already driving and moves product more efficiently for everyone.

Why Soltola

World-class thinking.
Southwest roots.

Most pallet distributors in this region are focused on the next truckload. Most freight brokers take 15 to 25 percent off the top and don't add much beyond a phone call.

Soltola is different. Jorge grew up watching trucks roll empty through El Paso. He's also built and led large operations across North America. He started this platform because he'd seen what good logistics looks like and knew his hometown deserved the same.

Operations built for efficiency
Every system at Soltola is designed to be lean, measurable, and built around what the customer actually needs.
Real technology, not spreadsheets
The freight marketplace, the real-time quote calculator, the route matching. These come from someone who's actually managed enterprise product roadmaps.
Community, not just commerce
Soltola was built for El Paso and the Southwest. Every trucker who earns more on a return trip, every company that saves on freight costs, that's the community winning.
The Soltola Principles
01
"The person doing the work should keep most of the money."
That's why our freight marketplace fee is 3% per side. Not 15%, not 25%. Just 3% — far below what brokers take.
02
"An empty truck is a failure of information, not a lack of demand."
15–35% of U.S. trucking miles are driven empty (ATRI). Soltola's marketplace fixes the information problem.
03
"El Paso deserves world-class logistics, not what's left over."
This region moves billions in goods every year. It should have the infrastructure to match.

Our Mission

"Fewer empty roads. Smarter supply chains. We built Soltola to bring the same operational thinking we've applied to global organizations back home to El Paso and the Southwest."
